Women Dominate Forbes List of High Net Worth Celebs Under 30

Today is no fairy tale for Taylor Swift, who tops Forbes’ list of high net worth celebrities under 30. More than half of the list is occupied by women(five of them singers), besting last year’s list, which included only four women.

But never mind “under 30”: Six of the high net worth celebs on the list are under 25. Justin Bieber, second on the list (unchanged from 2011) and the only male to crack the top five, is the youngest at 18.

Forbes’ writer Dorothy Pomerantz estimates that Swift, 22, earned $57 million between May 2011 and May 2012, noting that each of the singer’s three albums have sold at least four million copies. She makes an average of $1 million a night for her concerts. And then there’s her gig as the face of CoverGirl makeup. The precocious Swift placed 11th on Forbes’ annual Celebrity 100 list.

New to the list this year is singer Rihanna, 24, who placed third with estimated earnings of $53 million. Lady Gaga, 26, who placed first on the list last year, drops to fourth with earnings of $52 million. Pomerantz notes that she is the world’s most popular Twitter user with more than 24 million followers. Her 50 million Facebook fans are topped only by Eminem and Rihanna.

Katy Petty, 27, climbed a rung on the list to the No. 5 position with $45 million in earnings. Her 3D concert movie is currently in theaters and her “California Dreams” tour grossed nearly $60 million.

The hits just keep on coming for women and six-time Grammy-winner Adele, 24, another newcomer to the list, whose $35 million earnings was enough to rank No. 6. Kristen Stewart, 22, best known for her signature role as Bella in the Twilight film franchise, comes in at No. 7 with $34.5 million. Her castmates, Taylor Lautner, 20, and Robert Pattinson, 26, came in at Nos. 9 and 10, respectively.

Lil Wayne, a fossil at 29, enjoyed a career year that earned him an estimated $27 million and placed him eighth on the list.

The ascendancy of women on the list of high net worth celebrites comes at the expense of male athletes. None made the list this year. Last year, the list included four, including LeBron James, Roger Federer, Christiano Ronaldo, and Lionel Messi.
